SHE makes room
In my old apartment, I used to have a whole wall filled with shelves. It was completely dedicated to my arts and crafts supplies. I had several different boxes that contained scraps of everything. Cloth. Glue sticks. Scrapbook paper. Random wooden shapes from projects past. They accumulated like creative dust for the three years that I lived there. When it came time to move, I felt torn to throw anything away. Over the years I found the use in various different scraps to help me finish a project or to even start one. More times than not some of those forgotten pieces that laid dormant ended up serving a purpose. But the other half of scraps would eventually be thrown away. “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” -John 15:2- Over the years, I have accumulated a lot of stuff- pain, memories, lessons, revelations, setbacks, and breakthroughs.I’ve stored them away in my heart and in my mind, and I may have often recall them when needed or triggered. However, I know God is always moving me in a direction to do greater things. And He knows that I can’t pack all those things with me. I’ll have to let some things go. Through spiritual growth, I allow the Holy Spirit to sort through my stuff and determine which branches of the past are no longer needed. Which scraps of rejection and hurt can be thrown away. The pain which has served its purpose can be made whole again. I don’t know what scraps of your past God is calling you to let go, so it can be thrown away. I don’t know how long you’ve kept it or held on to it because its familiarity made you feel comfortable. But that experience has served its purpose. He wants to create something new in you...will you make room for it?
