SHE reaches her destination
Am I the only one that feels like a bosslady when I no longer need to use Google Maps to get somewhere?
When you go to a location for the first time, Siri becomes a lifeline between Point A to Point B. If she tells you to turn left, you turn left. If she tells you to re-route, you comply. If Siri malfunctions, you have a mini-freakout because you have no idea where you are...even if you're within a one mile radius of your home.
But when you've been somewhere for so long, the things around you easily fade into the background, and nothing sticks out as much as it use to. You no longer notice things around you because it all seems so familiar after a while.
When I found the Best Buy near me, I found myself wondering...when did that get there? There were no new "Now Open" signs anywhere and the exterior of the building made it clear that it had been there for a while, but I still couldn't recall noticing it in the 5 months that I passed it on the way to and from work.
The only reason it now stuck out like a sore thumb, was because I needed to buy some new electronics. But I was in disbelief when Google Maps told me that there was one just down the street.
In the same way, God can reveal something new from His word or bring to light a gift or promise that appears to have been there all along. That's because it has been.
We are surrounded by God's promises, miracles, and revelations through His word every day.
Maybe you finally became friends with that person that you always passed at work or church, and now you both are starting a new project together that will impact your community.
Or that verse that you've read a thousand times over the years suddenly has a new meaning to you and confirms what you've been praying about.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.
- Psalm 84:11-
The things that God has for us are never being withheld. He knows where we are, what we need, and when we need each and every perfect gift. At the perfect time, He reveals things to us to use and enjoy. The key is to keep travelling along the routes that God sets for us. "Turn Left, Turn Right". Before you know it we'll hear..."You have arrived!"
