SHE goes through it

"Going on a Bear Hunt." "Going to catch a big one!" "What a beautiful day!" "We're not scared!"

"Can't go under it. Can't go over it. We've got to go THROUGH it!"

If you've worked with kids, I'm sure the melody came automatically to your memory and you're probably stomping your feet uncontrollably as you read.

If you just like huh? Just know that "Going on a Bear Hunt" is a go-to if you ever need a quick activity to do with any kid under the age of 8.

In this fictional tale, kids and adults alike pretend to go through mud, water, tall grass, and all the other harsh terrains you would typically watch in a National Geographic documentary to find this bear who happens to be hiding in a cave.

"Can't go under it. Can't go over it. We've got to go THROUGH it!"

These phrases are repeated several times throughout the story to illustrate the path that would lead them to this inevitably, scary destination.

"Can't go under it. Can't go over it. We've got to go THROUGH it!"

Why did I find myself chanting a similar message this past week as I faced my own personal growth pains.

Unanswered Prayers. Conflict. Uncertainties.

"Can't go under it. Can't go over it. We've got to go THROUGH it!"

But I don't want to go through it, Jesus.

I want to hide under it. Or just completely bypass over whatever thing hurts. Whatever makes me want to quit and just throw in the towel or comforter right over my head.

But I can't. Because it's through the painful process that God's presence and purpose is strengthened.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Our God is aware of what is ahead of us that scares us and what we will have to go through to get to it. For that reason, the well-known music producer, David, helped remind us that God will be with us and will comfort us in the valleys.

"Can't go under it. Can't go over it. But He can bring us THROUGH it!"

What valley are you going through that you can't get over or under?

What chant will you use to rally against the things that scare you?
