SHE can stand the rain
I was driving through the rain on the way back home. It was the oddest drive as I drove through seconds of sprinkling rain which turned into pouring rain which suddenly fizzled out into a drizzle. Literally within two exits I experienced different levels of downpour.
Life can be that way so often. Sometimes the problems of life feel only like a drizzle, not enough to make you turn on your windshield wipers but enough to make you notice. And then of course you have torrential downpours where no amount of wax on and offs can make it any better.
Big or small, when we face consecutive storms it will make us want to go through life bracing for impact! Bracing the steering wheels of our futures trying to gain some level of control! Trying to make sense of what’s in front of us.
It would be ideal if we were given some sort of daily forecast: Today will be partly cloudy with a chance of unexpected answers and disappointing news.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
We have a heavenly meteorologist that foreknew the obstacles we would face. To provide us an umbrella, a windshield wiper, and a shelter during the storms of life He sent His only son, to die and rise again just to overcome every single thing that attempts to overcome us!
But why the rain though? Well, in this Mediterranean climate of Northern California, the rain has brought new growth to once dead and dry looking areas along highways and back roads. I don't know about you, but sometimes the rain in my life, has produced the growth I never thought I would see if not for the storm.
After several miles of this rainy roller coaster, I turned the corner onto my street to see a beautiful rainbow stretching across the trees like a banner. I don't know about you, but rainbows always have a beautiful significance relating to a promise.
"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness, and streams in the wasteland."
