SHE is always beautiful
Have you ever gotten dressed and looked at the mirror like "OK! You look cute today!"? This past Sunday that was me in all transparency...your girl looked good! My hair was voluminous and curly, my outfit was color blocking and all summerlike. In the midst of all my preparation, I overlooked two obvious pimples that just stared back at me almost taunting me from my forehead.
Then on the way to church, I spilled some water (thank God it was just water) on my khaki skirt. So by the time I stepped in through the church doors I was quickly humbled as I scurried to my seat hoping to not be noticed.
It's amazing how an hour ago, I was on top of my confidence mountain, only to be brought down by things that I'm sure no one noticed. But I did. As small as they may have been, it's the small stuff that we carry with us, not only on the outside but the inside that can wreck how we see ourselves.
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
-Psalm 139:14
We can have that verse etched on wooden blocks to decorate our homes, saved on our phone's screensaver, or memorized for quick recitation, but when those times come to use it as a defensive weapon against destructive thoughts we can often be found cowering in the corner with our swords in hand feeling powerless to fight.
Would you feel confident to fight if you had a weapon?
Sounds like an easy question but when thoughts control and distort the image God sees when He looks at us through Christ Jesus, it can seem impossible to answer.
"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist..."
-Ephesians 6:14
God knew to equip us with the truth, which is the Word, because it is the only truth that is powerful enough to cripple the thoughts that cripple us.
The Truth is a fact that all other information is based on in order to be justified. If the Truth is that as sons and daughters of God we are made beautiful in His image then we must learn to conduct our lives according to that truth. We must live as beautiful. We must think as beautiful despite the things around us that will attempt to tell you otherwise.
How can you live your life as beautiful when things around seem ugly?
